aboard. The place from which we were picked up was some little

distance from YUNG LUNG WAN where we had gone aground. The Police

Launch then went to YUNG LUNG WAN to make sure that it was our ship

which I had seen sailing away, and found that it was. The people

on the beach told us that the Japanese had stolen their chickens

and they also pointed out a door which had been damaged by shell

fire. They also pointed at two unexploded shells on the beach. I

then returned to No.3 Police Launch which proceeded to Hong Kong.

I have been two and half years in the Customs. I

do not think our ship was hit direct during the shell fire. While

I was in the Ward-room at the beginning of this incident, there was

a violent repercussion and our wireless set was knocked down. I

do not know if any damage was done to the ship.
